We test the GP-4L small handheld Shortwave Radio
We were on a mountain at about 4000 feet at about 2 am
The radio did pick up stations, but it would have been dificult to tune most of them in
The LED and standard FM radio both have worked well no mater where we test this radio, however we are still finding little success finding shortwave broadcasts durring our testing
We have been carying this Adventure Medical Hand Sanitizer for well over a year in a daily carry bag as part of the medical equipment. In that time it has not been needed. It still has its safety tab in place which prevents the gel from being pumped out. It has lasted well during this time and is still in usable condition. This is a worthwhile product and an excelent choice for a first aid kit or survival kit.
the ultimate lightweight generator. Producing high-quality, clean power, the EF1000iS revolutionary Yamaha MZ50 engine is both extremely powerful and quiet.
This was filmed at
2009 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Phoenix, Arizona
We made two slings (for throwing rocks) out of 550 cord. We found the idea and instructions on the EDC Forum. Both of these were easy to assemble. The tan version uses two cords, the black one was made from just one length of 550 cord. The tan two cord version is larger and longer, but either can be made larger or smaller.
Sparkie Fire Starter Demo from SHOT Show 2009
This is a new fire starting tool from Ultimate Survival Technologies.
Well made, quality materials, easy to use (even one handed)
A redesigned smaller version of the Blastmatch
We plan to do a long term review of the Top Knives Survival Saw, here are the initial photos as we received it from EDC Depot.com The Survival Saw has an overall length of 7 inches. The survival saw has a 4 inch Powder Coated Red Blade. The handle material is Kydex. These Tops Knives survival saws have a Hardened Steel Reciprocating Saw Blade that can cut: Bone, Frozen Meat, Wood, PVC, Copper, Aluminum and Hard Rubber
While the Top Knives Survival Saw is no match for this Swiss Army Knife on wood, it would cut metal better. The Survival Saw is also lighter than a full knife.
We took a few of the electronic outdoor equipment out to compare how they work. We compare features of the Garmin Legend GPS, the Garmin Rino 120 GPS and a Motorola Talkabout T6320 Radio. These are some of the most feature rich units we have found over the years at prices we could afford. These units give us a lot of information and abilities when camping, hiking, hunting, fishing and geocaching. Usually we pass the units around or if everyone has their own radio / GPS then the Rino is carried and the other two units are carried in the pack as backups. Together these three units offer; two GPS Units, two Two Way Radios, two Compasses, three Altimeters, a radio scanner, national weather radio, barometer, sun and moon charts and a lot more.
Adventure Medical Kits S.O.L. (Survive Outdoors Longer) survival kit. We have had this handy survival kit in our 3 day pack for a little over a year now. It looks about like it did when it was new. We have taken the items in and out of the kit many times. The S.O.L. Survival Kit includes: a small water filled button Compass, a small floating Mini Rescue Flash Signal Mirror, a yellow Slim Rescue Howler Whistle, eight Waterproof and Windproof Survival Matches in a plastic tube, three Waterproof Tinder Quik in a ziplock bag, a Heatsheets Survival Blanket, a Survival Fishing Kit in another plastic tube and 100 feet of re-rolled Duct Tape. The whole S.O.L. kit can fit into a water bottle or just about any pocket on a backpack or bag
The Ultimate Survival Technologies Deluxe Survival Kit has really good gear in a well made case. SImply one of the best survival kits available for well under $100. There is some room left for more gear in the water tight hard case. The UST case floats and securely locks shut.
