The Leatherman Micra is a small (keychain size) spring loaded scissor and multi tool. It is small size and light weight make it ideal for pocket or pack. Tools include; Clip Point Knife, Extra-small Screwdriver, Medium Screwdriver, Flat Phillips Screwdriver, Spring-action Scissors, Nail File/Cleaner, Bottle Opener, Ruler and non removable Tweezers. The green version has a plastic cover over the grips which add almost no weight and increase the grip size just a bit. Tools on the Micra are easy to use when the scissors are open, but are not accessible when closed. The Leatherman Micra is about 4 inches long with scissors open, 2-1/2 inches long when folded (closed). The tool is just about 1 inch wide, just under 1/2 inch wide and weighs 1.8 ounces. With the two arms extended the ruler is about 5 inches long (13 cm)

Comparing scissors on a few EDC (Every Day Carry) pocket tools; the Gerber Shortcut, Leatherman Micra, Victorinox Huntsman, Victorinox Executive and the Victorinox Classic SD. These tools all offer scissors. If I were packing a first aid kit for a car or truck, I would include a pair of EMT scissors. But for everyday pocket carry or smaller first aid kits and survival kits these options might do well. Scissors in the Swiss Army Knives are very sharp and well made but will not cut through denim or other thick materials. The larger scissors on the Gerber Shortcut and Leatherman Micra is large enough to cut through many thicker materials

IDL Tools T-10 and the Leatherman Squirt P4 side by side. These are two pocket pliers we have been reviewing. The two are about the same size when open and weight. But when closed the Leatherman Squirt P4 is slimer and more comfortable. The Leatherman Squirt P4 is just under 1-inch wide, 2-1/4-inches long, 4 inches long when open, 1/2-inch thick. The IDL Tools T-10 is 1-1/4-inch wide, just over 2-inches long 4 inches long when open and just over 1/4-inch thick. The IDL Tools T-10 weighs 1.8 ounces, the Leatherman Squirt P4 Pocket Pliers weighs 2.1 ounces. The IDL Tools T-10 jaw opens wider to a little over an inch, the Leatherman Squirt P4 open to only a bit less than an inch.

I recently went to Orlando and got screwed over by the car rental place..
I had intended to get a rental and buy a knife at a local store or someplace.. but no car, no knife
All I had was my Swiss Tech Utili-Key 6 in 1 tool (which was allowed on the plane) for almost a week as my only blade
I wasn’t cutting down trees obviously, but all the minor tasks I typically use my pocket knife for, that dang key handled quite well
I am very impressed by this little gadget
Much more impressed now than all the while I’ve had it and never really used it

Utili-Key 6 in 1 key ring tool, straight knife blade, a serrated cutting blade, a flat screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a micro-eyeglass screwdriver

The key clips it’s self to a key ring when closed. Stays closed well. A good tool that is easy to carry with keys

The Utili-Key can be opened to half way or all the way open (180) to use the blade effectively.

We noticed some low prices on Every Day Carry (EDC) Tools at the local big box store. We took a look at the prices at the store compared to the suggested retail price from the manufacturer, and then we compared the big box store price to online stores and online auctions. Surprisingly, the Auctions were not always the lowest prices, and some of the prices at the local store beat the online purchase options. What this small experiment tells us is there is no best place to buy gear. Prices do fluctuate and for the money you might save it’s worth looking around before you put money down.

We Review prices on the; Gerber Ripstop, Gerber EAB (Exchange A Blade), Gerber Artifact, Gerber Clutch (pliers), Leatherman Micra, Leatherman Wave, Leatherman Blast, Swiss Tech Util-Key 6-in-1, Maglite Solitare, Mini Maglite, INOVA Bolt (2.0), INOVA Bolt (3.8), INOVA Bolt (4.6), INOVA X1, INOVA X0, INOVA X03, Black & Decker Stormtracker Weather Radio

We were asked to review this Survival II Card pocket tool from Tool Logic. This version is in blue with a red LED light. Other models have a Compass / Magnifying Lens instead of the light, or a gray smoke color card. This handy little tool has enough useful features that it would be an excellent addition to any first aid or survival kit. We took these initial photos of the Tool Logic Survival II Card before we started testing it.

SHOT Show is the big Shooting Sports / Military & Police / Hunting trade show each year
This is where the manufacturers show off their new gear for 2009
We attend as media, so we can take photos
Our crew will be there for all 4 days of the show and the shoot the day before
We’ll take thousands of pictures of the new stuff and then post the best of it all on our websites
http://www.gunshowreview.com/S…..HOT
(you can see our past years reviews here)
We always want our coverage to be better than before, so please let me know what you’d like to see
Have you heard about anything new? Want to see it close up?
Want photos of some part or function of some kind of gear?
Have questions about something? We’ll ask the manufactures for you
We missed a bunch of stuff last year and I thought I was prepared, so I’m interested in any suggestions or requests
thanks
